Supported by a grant from the Turkish Cultural Foundation, the Turkish American Art Society of New York (TAASNY) staged "Ali Baba and the 40 Thieves – Ali Baba ve Kirk Haramiler," to Turkish American children in New York, Philadelphia and Washington, DC. Performed in Turkish with intercultural references geared toward Turkish American children, the play received praise from parents and children alike. TAASNY, a theater troupe that consists primarily of Turkish American amateur performers, has previously received TCF funding to stage two acclaimed Turkish plays, Kanli Nigar and Hisseli Harikalar Kumpanyasi.
